About the game

The official record lies: a front, a pen name, a studio figurehead, a borrowed name, and a murder verdict a county weekly has treated as settled since 1983.

Armed with a period search engine and a desk full of webpages, Usenet posts, zines, liner notes, letters, court papers and clippings, you work an anthology of self-contained cases. Read first. Then correct the record, one proven entry at a time.

No twitch. No fail state. Just documents, photographs and deduction.

  • Name the facesTrack down the photographs, then work out who is who.
  • Documents by postIn the fourth case, the offices release their files to the paper as your sheet fills.
  • An anthologySelf-contained cases, each in its own era and field, with more planned through Early Access.

Questions

Is there a free demo?

Yes. It’s on the game’s Steam page, for Windows and Mac, and it has four cases, including the tutorial.

Will my demo progress carry over to the full game?

That isn’t decided yet. This answer will be updated once it is.

Does it run on Steam Deck?

It hasn’t been tested on Steam Deck yet, so it isn’t promised there.

Can I lose?

No. Corrections confirm only in batches, and a failed check doesn’t say which entry fell short, but you can always look again and file again.

Is there anything upsetting in it?

One case concerns a missing child and a murder conviction, told through court papers, letters and newspaper pages. No violence is shown.

Does the game collect any data?

No. It has no accounts, analytics or ads, and it connects to nothing while you play. The privacy policy has the details.
